## What Reservations & ARI does

- **Availability calendar** — a grid of every room and every date, colour-coded by status.

- **Overlap-proof bookings** — date-range constraints enforced by the database, so concurrent bookings can never collide.

- **Change the departure date** — extend or shorten a stay without cancelling it; nights already agreed keep their agreed rate and only added nights are priced.

### Can bedsKey sell individual beds in a dorm?

Yes. bedsKey supports room-level and bed-level inventory, so a single bunk in a shared dorm and a private room are sold from the same availability calendar.

### How does bedsKey prevent double bookings?

Overlap protection is enforced by the database with date-range exclusion constraints, not by application code, so two staff members or channels can never sell the same room for the same night.

### Can I extend a stay without cancelling the booking?

Yes. Change the departure date directly; nights already agreed keep their agreed rate and only the added nights are priced.
