Why parity matters
Guests compare prices across sites. If an agency shows a lower price than the hotel's own website, direct bookings fall and the hotel pays commission it could have avoided. Contracts with some channels also include parity clauses.
Common causes of disparity
- A rate change reached one channel but failed on another.
- A derived rate was calculated differently on one channel.
- Currency conversion or tax display differs between sites (price including tax vs excluding tax).
- A wholesale rate leaked to a public site.
Parity vs channel-specific pricing
Parity does not always mean identical prices everywhere. Many hotels deliberately charge more on high-commission channels or offer member prices direct. What matters is that every difference is intentional and every channel booking matches what that channel was sent.
| Check | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Rate parity | Is the public price the same everywhere it should be? |
| Rate accuracy | Did this booking arrive at the price we sent this channel? |
How bedsKey checks parity
bedsKey sells a rate plan at a different price on each channel when you choose to, pushes each channel its own price, and compares every channel booking against the rate that channel was sent, so both kinds of difference are visible. The Reports module shows revenue, cancellations and estimated commission per channel, and the direct booking engine shows prices including tax on your own website.
