Housekeeping, restaurant & staff apps: questions and answers
In short: Housekeeping runs from a live room board: tasks are created at check-out, dealt to attendants in one press and closed from their phones. Restaurant, bar and room-service outlets each keep their own menu and takings and can charge orders to the guest folio. Three iOS and Android apps cover housekeeping, restaurant and front desk.

Housekeeping & maintenance
Which room statuses does the room board show?
Vacant clean, vacant dirty, vacant inspected, occupied clean, occupied dirty, do-not-disturb, out-of-order and out-of-service, live for supervisors and reception.
How are cleaning tasks created?
Automatically. Departures are added to the list at check-out, and a turnaround is marked high priority when a guest is arriving in that room the same day.
Can bedsKey assign rooms to attendants?
Yes. One button deals rooms to the day's roster by priority, floor and workload.
How do inspections work?
A supervisor passes a room or sends it back with a reason. Cleaning checklists have required lines that must be ticked before an attendant can finish a room.
What happens to rooms that are not finished today?
They carry over to the next day's board, labelled with the day they came from.
Does bedsKey schedule deep cleaning?
Yes. Rooms due for a deep clean appear on the day's list automatically.
How are guest requests like extra towels handled?
Log the request, and on delivery it is either free or charged to the guest's folio.
Can I measure housekeeping productivity?
Yes. The productivity report shows rooms cleaned, time per room, inspections and send-backs per attendant.
Restaurant, bar & room service
Can I run several outlets?
Yes. A restaurant, bar, coffee shop and room service can each have their own menu, prices and takings, in one set of books.
Can a restaurant bill be charged to the room?
Yes. An order settled to a stay becomes one taxed line on the guest folio.
How do orders reach the kitchen?
Orders move from the order pad to the kitchen, then to the tray and the table. The order pad handles dine-in against a table, takeaway, and room service against a stay. A dedicated kitchen display screen shows each order to the kitchen.
How are voids controlled?
A line removed after cooking is struck through with a reason and a name, never deleted. Voiding needs its own permission.
Can waiters take orders without seeing guest folios?
Yes. The Restaurant role takes orders without folio access.
Which business day do outlet takings count towards?
Cash and card taken at the outlet count towards the hotel's business day, not the calendar day, so late-night takings land in the right day's figures.
Does the restaurant module handle tips, split outlet bills or stock?
Yes. Split outlet bills, outlet discounts, tips and stock counting are available.
iOS and Android staff apps
Which staff apps are available?
Three iOS and Android apps on one shared, secure core: Housekeeping (my rooms, start and finish, checklists, guest requests, fault reporting), Restaurant (the order pad) and Front Desk (arrivals, departures and in-house guests on a phone or tablet).
What happens if the signal drops?
Actions queue on the device and replay safely without duplicates when the connection returns. The Restaurant app keeps an offline order queue.
Can staff set their own password on the phone?
Yes. First-password setup and forgot-password both work from the phone.
Do the apps send push notifications?
Yes. The staff apps on iOS and Android receive push notifications.
